Congratulations to Michael Towler of Team Bath and Lucy Richens of Westbury Harriers who led home the four hundred strong field at the 12th edition of the Wiltshire 10 road race.
Four hundred runners headed to Melksham for the 12th edition of the Wiltshire 10 road race. On a re-planned course to avoid the flooded sections of the River Avon, the field headed out of King George V Playing fields and into Forest Lane before heading out and around Lacock before finishing back in the town park.
Leading home the field in a time of 53-minutes and 48-seconds was Michael Towler of Team Bath AC with the Bristol & West AC duo of Tom Newman and Nick Roberts trying in vain to close him down.
In the Ladies race, regular participant Lucy Richens of Westbury Harriers claimed her first victory at the race, recording a time of sixty five minutes and 20-seconds with Rachel Stowell of Bitton Road Runners and Emma Hines of Swindon Harriers close behind.
Age group winners were: 1st MV40 – Bill Leggate of Cirencester AC; 1st MV50 – Stephn Rose of Team Bath AC; 1st MV60 – Paul Reddaway of Corsham Running Club; 1st FV40 – Lyndsey Carpenter of Chippenham Tri Club; 1st FV50 – Lisa Jeffery of Chepstow Harriers; 1st FV60 – Diane Hier of Avon Valley Runners.
